Louisiana, Missouri mayoral candidate Woodrow Polston has issued a public statement regarding the pending impeachment proceedings involving a city council member. Polston called for the dismissal of Resolution Number 10-2025 and urged that all articles of impeachment be dropped. He cited sections of the city code related to council conduct and the mayor’s duty to enforce ordinances, while encouraging city leadership to move past prolonged political conflict and refocus on priorities such as public safety, infrastructure, economic development, and quality of life.



Pike County law enforcement has released its weekly arrest report for January 5 through January 11, highlighting several major offenses. Among the serious cases were arrests involving drug-related charges, a violation of an order of protection, a federal hold involving the U.S. Marshals, and revocation of pre-trial release. Authorities remind the public that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.



In Illinois, the Bluffs Village Board announced plans for a public open house allowing residents to meet Scott County sheriff and treasurer candidates ahead of an upcoming debate in Winchester. Mayor Linda Sapp said the open house is intended to give voters a chance to learn more about the candidates and their positions on key issues. The board also approved participation in a rural community planning program through Western Illinois University and discussed continued improvements to the Bluffs Senior Citizens Building.



And drivers across the Twin Pikes are seeing noticeable differences in gas prices. Fuel prices tend to be highest near the Mississippi River bridge area in Pike County, Missouri, while cheaper options are often available further out in rural parts of the county. Prices in Pike County, Illinois remain generally higher overall, though motorists can still save by shopping around. Chapel Report



Eida Fae Johnson, age 88, of Columbia, Missouri, and formerly of Louisiana, Missouri, passed away January 8, 2026. She is survived by her daughter Lori; grandsons Kyle and David; great-grandchildren Logan, Jackson, and Elise; and a sister. Visitation was held Friday, January 16, with funeral services at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia.



David William Hallows, age 70, of Curryville, Missouri, passed away January 8, 2026. He is survived by his children Amanda Hallows Thomas, Crista Hallows, Jodi McPike, and Jamie Hallows; nine grandchildren; siblings; and extended family. Funeral services were held January 15 at Bibb-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green, with burial at Fairview Cemetery in Louisiana, Missouri.



Jeanett Palmer, age 92, of Elsberry, Missouri, passed away January 6, 2026. She is survived by her children Debi Bowser, Daniel Palmer, Donna Hammon, Derrick Palmer, and Dedric Palmer, along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held January 13 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry, with burial at Elsberry City Cemetery.
