Air travelers in the region will soon have a new option for flying to Chicago. The U.S. Department of Transportation has selected Contour Airlines to provide service at Quincy Regional Airport, replacing Southern Airways. Starting Nov. 1, or sooner if possible, Contour will offer 12 round-trip flights each week to Chicago O’Hare International Airport using 30-seat Embraer regional jets. Airport Director Bill Lantz said the move brings larger planes, more seats, and improved reliability — key upgrades the community has been asking for. Quincy Mayor Linda Moore called the announcement a major step toward restoring confidence in Quincy’s air service and thanked both current and former city leaders for their efforts to secure the new provider.

A Greene County Health Department employee is being recognized for her dedication to community health. Amanda McKinley has been named Community Health Worker of the Year by the Illinois Public Health Association. McKinley has served as a community engagement specialist for the past three years, traveling across Greene County to provide health education and connect residents with medical resources. She says the honor is a reflection of the entire public health team’s hard work. Health Administrator Molly Peters praised McKinley’s compassion and commitment, calling her an invaluable asset to both the department and the community.

The Scott-Morgan school board has approved an update to its bullying policy, expanding and clarifying how the district addresses both in-person and online bullying. Assistant Superintendent Brandi Pennock said the revisions offer a more detailed explanation of what the school can and cannot do, along with the supports available to students and parents. The updated policy outlines how the district handles incidents on school grounds, buses, and events — as well as cyberbullying that causes substantial disruption or harm to students. Reports of bullying will be investigated within 10 days, with all parties notified within 24 hours. Pennock said the changes weren’t made in response to any specific incident, but to ensure clear communication and understanding of expectations among students, staff, and families.

The Pike County, MO Courthouse in Bowling Green is getting into the Halloween spirit this year, with staff transforming the main lobby into a festive, spooky display ahead of an upcoming courthouse open house. The event, organized in part by Public Administrator Lori Fuerst, aims to bring the community together, giving residents a chance to tour the courthouse, meet local officials, and enjoy the seasonal decorations. Officials say the effort is about more than just celebrating Halloween — it’s a way to make the courthouse feel welcoming and to highlight its role as a place for community connection as well as government business.
