The City of Pittsfield is offering a Business Incentive Program for new or relocating brick-and-mortar businesses with 2–20 full-time employees, as well as in-home daycare providers who meet state and local requirements. Eligible businesses can receive a 100% rebate on gas, water, and sewer bills for the first six months, followed by a 50% rebate for months 7–12, up to $5,000 for the year. Business owners must pay utility bills as usual, then submit them to the City Clerk for reimbursement at six-month intervals. To qualify, businesses must operate with at least two full-time employees per six-month period, though daycare providers may be exempt from this requirement with council approval. Any variances to the program also require full council approval.

The City of Louisiana, Missouri announced that roadwork on Edison Avenue, also known as Lower River Road, will take longer than expected. The street was originally scheduled to be closed for repairs on Thursday, September 4, and Friday, September 5, with plans to reopen by Friday afternoon. However, due to complications with the project, officials now say Edison Avenue will remain completely shut down throughout the following week. Residents are advised to plan ahead and use alternate routes until the work is finished.

Four members of the Bowling Green FFA Chapter—Andrew and Lydia Niemeyer, Grace Deters, and Delaney Feldman—donated their market hogs to the Hogs for Hunger program after competing at the Missouri State Fair, joining 32 youth exhibitors statewide in contributing 53 hogs. The effort will provide nearly 27,825 servings of high-quality pork to Missouri families facing food insecurity, with each hog yielding about 525 servings. Coordinated by Missouri Farmers Care, the program distributes pork through Feeding Missouri food banks, with processing covered by the Drive to Feed Kids initiative and agricultural partners. Leaders praised the generosity of participating 4-H and FFA members, highlighting how Missouri agriculture is not only about raising livestock but also about serving communities in need.

The three-day Greene County Days celebration kicks off Friday with music, vendors, food, and family-friendly entertainment spread across communities throughout the county. In Roodhouse, festivities will feature dozens of vendors, live music acts including Whiskey Driven and a Taylor Swift tribute, a wrestling show, pageant competitions, and a massive inflatable obstacle course for kids. Carrollton will highlight nearly 50 food and craft vendors, offering everything from homemade baskets and lavender products to fried fish, pulled pork, and baked goods, along with knife sharpening, jewelry repair, and plenty of yard sales. The Greene County Historical Society will host tours and exhibits at the Lee-Baker-Hodges House, including a special display honoring Korean War veteran Sgt. 1st Class William “Bill” Howland. With concerts, fundraisers, children’s activities, and church services rounding out the schedule, organizers say the weekend promises something for everyone while celebrating community spirit.
